Chives

Small in Size, Exceptional in Character

Our chives are grown at high altitude where cool air, fertile volcanic soil, and pure mountain water combine to create leaves with concentrated flavour and natural vibrancy. Their clean, oniony aroma reflects both the environment and the slow, careful way we cultivate them. Every bunch carries the freshness and mineral richness of the Aberdare foothills.

Growing Conditions

Chives thrive in our crisp highland climate, drawing nutrients from soil enriched with organic compost and naturally filtered water. This environment encourages slow, steady growth, which intensifies both aroma and nutrient density. The result is a leaf that remains bright, firm, and highly aromatic.

Quality & Handling

Each harvest is done by hand at peak maturity, ensuring uniformity and maximum essential-oil retention. We wash and rinse with fresh Aberdare water, then shade-dry the leaves to protect their colour and delicate oils. This process preserves freshness even after long-distance export to the UK and Europe.

Chives are rich in vitamins A, C, and K, as well as allicin—a compound known for supporting immunity and heart health. Their oils remain most potent when used raw, making them ideal for finishing soups, eggs, salads, vegetables, and seafood. Their subtle heat lifts flavour without ever overpowering a dish.
